Now this game is by no means perfect nor does it have a ton of depth. What it does have is a simple and fun game play, replay value, interesting mechanics, and a great price. GameplayThe overall gameplay is to move between sectors and address the situation presented, similar to FTL. The situations are mostly combat based, but sometimes you get an option to buy things, or explore a spacestation/object.The battle mechanicsship to ship combat is pretty easy. You pick the target systems by priority and your ship will target them as they take each out. There is also the personal fighting which occurs on either your ship or theirs, this consists of basic FPS mechanics. Right now the FPS component is a bit shallow, but the dev has noted its being worked on.Pros:- Great price- Simple and fun gameplay- Great replay value, as its different each time- dev supportCons:- Tutorial is weak at best, there needs to be a detailed manual. Many features, elements, and mechanics are never explained; which requires you to contact the dev directly. While the dev is helpful the fact that they can add a ton of context and make the game easier to learn and play with simple text exchanges, points to the fact that we need more customer support.- Some elements are clearly in development. There are some components that are clearly not done, they will completed im sure but gaps that make it feel not done. I.e. communication between ships 100% of the time is no response.Overall:i would recommend this game to anyone and everyone. Its fun, its different, and cheaper than it should be. Once we get a bit more customer support and finish up a few features this will become a top game for me just like FTL.. What this game is:- a FPS version of FTL, but it feels VERY differently because of the shoot-outs and the lack of a pause button- extremely unpolished, but I encountered only one bug- full of cheesy voice over, but it was good enough for one laugh- content rich; at least for 1,99 € (that is what I paid)- not optimized; I had HUGE drops when encountering more than one shipI really like the concept of the game. It has the exact same UI than FTL. You can remotely control you AI crew, distribute energy to the several stations and select enemy stations you want to shoot. But once you close that overlay, you are inside your ship and can control all stations manually or start a shootout with the enemy. All the gameplay mechanics - down to the function and even name of each station - are a direct rip-off of FTL.Sadly, the dev jumped ship just when the game became interesting. However it IS fun if you can get past the graphics, voice over and the overall unfinished feel of the game. Sound effects and ambience are good.I am very surprised that this seems to be the only small-scale 3D FTL game out there. A fleshed out version of this game for about 20 € should have a target audience.. Idea is good, but te♥♥♥♥♥al execution is so bad that the game is unplayable. Crashes occasionally, loading times are like hour long, max screen reso is like 1000x1000.... This game is very enjoyable and a great way to spend a dozen hours. You should buy it and support this sort of thing.. A great game and not quite like like FTL. I have bought FTL twice and I never really got to like it. Icarus, on the other hand, is great. It is not as close as repetitive as FTL is and the fact that you can create a crew, walk around, board things, etc. make this a really great game. Of course, the graphics are not up to date but for a mere three bucks, there is nothing wrong. In fact it is a gift. There are a lot of games more expensive and not as close as good as this one! For the devs, I hope that they will keep working on the game. Add some more content, maybe a sandbox more or whatever. The game has a lot of potential.. Fantastic indie game. The funcionality and guts of it is what makes it a hidden gem. I would LOVE to see someone put their mod skills to it and flesh it out. The visuals are basic but work. It would be nice to see mod improvements down the road especially for ship models and space itself which is essentially a black box that you can see out your ship windows. Navigation through space is just a one-page 15x15'ish grid as opposed to a more infinite galaxy feel which is a letdown. Once you've warped somewhere, you're just at the next grid and there's either someone\/something there to deal with or nothing and you move onto the next grid. Over time with scrap\/materials you find or take from enemies' wreckage; you upgrade your ship's equipment. Occasional visual bugs occur. For the price, you can't beat it. Once you've put the time into it to figure out how the game works, it's very enjoyable and deep. Bring on the modders!. Great game, lots of fun!. Looks okay but crashes att.. This game is by far the best value for money of this type - anywhere! What can be said about this ridiculously CHEAP game??First off, ISCS is a very clever blend of an FTL & FPS style strategy, roleplay action game. You can play more directly as an open Captain with your crew than just commanding them around. In saying that, proceed with caution. Everything begins & ends with you. If you die, games over. The situations you can get yaself in just flows & keeps you comin back for more. I played this 10hrs straight upon purchase & realised that its the best thing I ever done with just a couple of £'s GBP !!! Its just no regrets - guaranteed. A massive 10/10 and a big fat YES!
